Ultimate Fairy Party Guide –  37 Ideas For An Enchanting Birthday

If you’re throwing a fairy themed birthday party then check out this list of 37 ideas that will surely inspire you. This guide includes invitations, decorations, activities, foods, and party favors to ensure every aspect of your party transports your guests to an enchanted fairy forest.

Invitation:

First impressions are always important, and the first impression anyone will have of your party will be through the invitation. This makes picking out your invitation an important part of your party planning. One of my favorite places to look for invitations is through Etsy. There are hundreds of different styles to choose from and the templates can be customized for your party. Invitations to choose from include fairies, flowers, mushrooms, and woodland creatures. Check out these invitations that can be customized for any age.

Decorations:

What is a party without decorations? Backdrops, table cloths, centerpieces, and balloons can all be used to transform your party into an enchanted forest.

  • DIY Fairy Jars for Table Centerpieces
Make your own fairy jars to serve as a whimsical centerpiece for your tables. Just cut out the silhouette of a fairy, tape it to a jar, and add fairy lights to the jar. You can also add some flowers to the top of the jar to really give it that enchanted forest feeling.

  • DIY Fairy Light Flowers
You can make your own glowing fairy lights with this tutorial by Splash Crafts. All you’ll need is some strips of craft paper and a tea light. Once your flower is made, place your tea light inside and soon enough you’ll have some glowing flowers to spread around your party.
  • Paper Mache Toadstools
Scatter some toadstools around your party by making some DIY paper mache toadstools. To make these toadstools, start by gluing a paper tube to an upside down paper bow. Then, mix some water with flour to create a sticky mixture. Dip strips of paper into the mixture and use them to completely cover the toadstool base. Let the toadstool dry, and then paint it. Use different sized tubes and bowls to create the illusion of a mushroom forest.
  • Balloons with Hanging Flowers
Instead of a balloon archway, consider creating a backdrop from balloons with strings of flowers and forest vines hanging from them. Line up these balloons and you’ll be able to create a miniature fairy forest.

  • Curtain Back Drops with Lights and Butterflies
Another option for a backdrop is to hang some sheer curtains and add fairy lights behind them. You can also add some paper butterflies, hanging flowers, and forest vines to complete the look.

Pinwheels are a great party food and can easily be made into snails. Just lay the pinwheel on its side, stick two tooth picks in the top and then add olives to the toothpicks to make eyes. Place these snails on a tray and they will be an adorable addition to your fairy garden party. This food is especially great because of how versatile it is. It can be filled with whatever you like. Check out this recipe by A Couple Cooks which uses cheese, spinach, and sun-dried tomatoes for the filling.
  • Mini Spinach Quiches
A quiche is a pastry crust that is filled with milk, eggs, cream, and whatever other ingredients you want. When filled with creamy cheese and spinach they will look like a natural part of any fairy forest. For a tutorial on how to make these miniature quiches, check out Feeding Tiny Bellies.

Swill rolls are chocolate sponge cakes rolled around a creamy filling. And the best part about them is that they look just like tree stumps which fits perfectly for a fairy garden theme. Whether you serve it as a whole trunk or cut it into slices to make tree stumps, this treat will surely delight your guests. Check out this recipe by Sally’s Baking to find out how to make it.

Add these cute ladybugs to your desert table to make your guests feel like they are in an enchanted forest. To make them, dip the tip of your strawberries in melted chocolate. Once dry, paint some eyes on the chocolate. Then add some chocolate spots along the rest of the strawberry to create some cute little friends for your fairies.
  • Mushroom Marshmallows
Stick a marshmallow on a kabob and dip it into some red melted chocolate. Once dry, give it some white chocolate circles to make adorable mushrooms that you can place around your sweet table.

Activities:

After the food, it’s time for the real fun to begin! But how to entertain so many little ones? Here are some of my favorite ideas.

  • Create a Fairy Garden
All fairies need a place to live. So, have your guests create a fairy garden. You can set out some pots, dirt and seeds for an actual garden, or provide Styrofoam in a pot with fake moss pinned on top. Either way, make sure you also prove miniature houses, benches, fences, fairies, and whatever else you can find to make your guests’ gardens feel alive. Check out this Miniature Figurines Set. It includes multiple houses, animals, ponds, and flowers.
  • Make Pixie Dust Bottles
Having a pixie dust station at your party will surely be a hit. Provide little bottles for your guests to fill up and bowls of different colored glitter. Check out this Fairy Potions Wish Maker Kit which will provide you with everything you need.
  • Make Your Own Flower Crowns
A flower crown will instantly turn your guests into fairies. So, set out some wire, flowers, and ribbon and have your guests create their very own crowns. They can wear these crowns throughout the party and even take them home a souvenir afterwards.
