Physical Activities:

  • Busy Bee Relay
If you’re looking to get your guests moving, then have them participate in a busy bee relay. For the game, separate your guests into teams and have them race to see who can complete some bee themed tasks the fastest. A task that you might consider would be pollinating some flowers. Have your guests run back and forth between a flower patch and a “beehive.”
  • Pollen Drop Race
Another fast paced game is a pollen drop race. Have your guests pick up little balls of pollen (cotton balls) and balance them on a spoon. They will have to carry the pollen all the way to the bee’s beehive (a bowl) without dropping it. Whoever can get the most pollen to the beehive within the time limit is the winner.
  • Beehive Toss
Challenge your guests to a bee bean bag basket toss! Just set out some baskets and have your guests try to throw some bee bean bags inside of the “hives.” Whoever can get the most bees into the basket is the winner. To make your bee bean bags, take some Yellow and Black Bean Bags and paint stripes on them in the opposing color.

  • Bee Piñata
Nothing says birthday like a pinata. And for a bee themed party, you’ve got to make sure you’ve got an adorable Beehive Pinata. Your guests will love taking turns trying to break it open and will love the treats you’ve hidden inside even more. For a very special first bee day, use a Number 1 Pinata that’s decorated with bees, flowers, and honeycombs.
  • Queen Bee Says
A simple twist on Simon Says, this game will have your guests following the queen bee’s instructions. Pick one guest to be the queen bee, give them a Bee Antenna Headband,  and have them give simple instructions for the other guests to follow.
  • Stuck in the Honey Tag
Another classic game that can be transformed into a buzzing bee game is freeze tag. Give the player that is “it” a Bee Antenna and have that player try to tag the other players. Once tagged, those players are “stuck in honey” and will eventually turn into bees too. The game ends once all players have turned into bees.
  • Bee Hunt
Hide some Miniature Bees throughout your party and have your guests go on a bee hunt. You can make this hunt a competition by seeing who can get the most bees before the end of the party. Another option is to have everyone work together and see how many bees can be found within a certain time limit. After this activity is done, these miniature bees can be turned into a party favor for your guests to bring home.

To make this activity a game, have your guests start and stop dancing along with the music.
