21 Dinosaur Themed Party Activities for a Stomping Good Time

Are you ready for your little one’s dinosaur themed birthday party but not sure how to keep all of their friends entertained? Is your child crafty, full of energy, or extra creative? With this list of 21 different party games and crafts, you’ll find the perfect mix of activities to keep everyone entertained and make the day unforgettable.

Crafting Activities:

  • Make a Dinosaur Tail
Get your guests into the dino spirit by helping them make dinosaur tails. Have your guests cut a triangle out of construction paper and decorate it however they see fit. Then, tape a string along the largest part of the triangle. Have each guest tie their tails around their waists to transform into dinosaurs.
  • Make a Paper Plate Dinosaur
Making a Brontosaurus is an easy craft for younger guests. Cut a paper plate in half to use for the dinosaur’s body and then use construction paper for the dinosaur’s legs, tail, and head. Have your guests glue these pieces together and then decorate their dinosaur.

  • Dinosaur Hand Print Paintings
Another easy craft for smaller guests is a dinosaur hand print painting. Provide each guest with a picture of a dinosaur and a plate of paint. Have parents help their children dip their hands into the paint and then make hand prints along the back of their dinosaur. The hand prints will look just like the dinosaur’s spikes.
  • Craft Dinosaur Tooth Necklaces
Have your guests create their own necklaces. For a dinosaur theme, provide fake dinosaur teeth with black or clay beads.. Check out this Dinosaur Tooth Kit for everything you’ll need.
  • Create Dinosaur Party Hats
Have your guests create their own dinosaur party hats. To make them, cut out some triangles from construction paper. Then, glue these triangles in a single line along the hat to create dinosaur spikes.

  • Decorate a Safari Hat
Every jungle adventurer needs a safari hat. So, let your guests decorate their own by setting up a hat decorating station. Just set out some Safari Hats, paints, dinosaur stickers, and any other crafting materials they will need.
  • Make Dino Goo
What kid doesn’t like to stick their hands in gooey slime? Have your guests make their own that they can take home with this tutorial by The Best Ideas for Kids. To turn it into dinosaur slime, make the slime bright green and stick some dinosaur figurines in it.
  • Create Dinosaur Fossils with Salt Dough.
Check out this tutorial by Kiwi Co on how to make dinosaur fossils out of salt dough. This craft is best suited for a smaller party as it can get pretty messy. If you would like to still make the fossils but avoid the mess during the party, then make them beforehand and let your guests have fun painting the completed ones instead.

Physical Activities:

  • Move Like a Dino
Turn your guests into dinosaurs by playing Move Like a Dino. Call out different dinosaurs and have your guests mimic them to the best of their ability. You can call out the animals randomly or roll a dice with different animals on each side. Some moves you can include are hop like a velociraptor, move your arms like a t-rex, and flap your wings like a pterodactyl.
  • Jungle Obstacle Course
A jungle obstacle course is a great way to get your guests moving. Set up a challenging course that will make them feel like true jungle adventurers. Make sure to hide some dinosaurs among the courses to motivate your guests to keep moving! Some ideas for the courses include moving through “vines” that are taped between a doorway, a tight rope walk across Ichthyosaurus infested water, and crawling through standing hula hoops while avoiding flying pterodactyls.
  • Feed the Dinosaurs
For this game, paint a dinosaur on a wooden board and cut out a hole where its mouth is. Hang the board up and then have your guests take turns trying to toss a bean bag into the dinosaur’s mouth. Whoever can feed the dinosaur the most snacks is the winner.

  • Dinosaur Scavenger Hunt
Hide some dinosaurs throughout your party and let your guests hunt for them in a dinosaur hunt. You can provide them safari hats and binoculars to get them into character.
  • Dinosaur Egg Hunt
Another dinosaur themed scavenger hunt is a dinosaur egg hunt. You can let your guests be jungle explorers for this hunt as well, or provide them with dinosaur tails to turn them into Oviraptors (egg eating dinosaurs).
  • Triceratops Ring Toss
A ring toss is a classic game that can easily be adapted to your dinosaur themed party. Instead of tossing rings around a bottle, toss your ring towards a triceratops and try to hook it on the dinosaur’s horns.
